Procal Dairy Recognised for Sustainable Innovation

Procal Dairy is proud to be recognised for our ongoing commitment to sustainability. Recently, Northern / Star Weekly featured our business in an article about an exciting new initiative that aims to transform how milk bottles are recycled in Australia.

As part of a pilot program with Popit Recycling, we are trialling an innovative on-site collection system for HDPE milk bottles. The goal is simple but powerful: to take responsibility for the bottles after they leave our factory, recycle them locally, and ensure the material is fed back into the supply chain to create new bottles. This circular approach supports the industry’s broader push to increase recycled content in packaging and reduce waste sent to landfill.

The article highlighted how this project is one of the first of its kind within the dairy sector, showing leadership and collaboration between processors and recycling partners. For us at Procal, it represents another step forward in aligning our day-to-day operations with our values of responsibility, innovation, and care for the environment.

We know consumers increasingly want to support brands that do more than talk about sustainability — they want action. This program demonstrates how practical solutions, implemented at scale, can have a real impact for both our customers and the planet.
